WVSORO submits comments on proposed Marcellus Shale “Guidance”

The new large volume fracture process used in drilling/producing Marcellus Shale wells are a leap forward in technology, surface disturbance, water use and water disposal.  In a meager response the DEP announced by a press release  that it has issued a draft “Guidance” Document that will not have the force of law.  Although WVSORO thinks this level of response from DEP is inadequate, we did not want to be silent.    Comments have been filed by WVSORO as well as the Sierra Club, West Virginia Rivers Coalition and others both on the details of the draft document and pointing out that the whole concept of “guidance” is not enough.
