Mr. Northwest, and Mr. Northeast and Ms. Southeast find out about it. They learn that a typical shallow well drains 60 to 100 acres (the greenish circle). So they know that gas well #2 is draining gas out of the gas bearing strata in their mineral tracts!
They go to Mr. Southwest and ask him for a share of the royalties.
Mr. Southwest says, “No. Sue me.”
And they do.
